Reverse Braid and Fabric.

Two things.
Here is a quick braid I did before going to
teach my yoga class this morning. Ponytail
is slightly crazy due to sleeping on
wet hair last night...
I basically just flipped my head
upside down and braided the bottom
half while the top half was up and away
in a hair tie.
Secondly...
I am loving the custom fabric designs offered by
Spoonflower. Check out the "earth up"
fabric I used above! You can actually
design your own fabrics on this
site. I cannot wait to start. :)

Saturday, December 1, 2012

Hello, December.

Can you believe December is here?
Quite honestly, I am unsure as to what to talk about today!
Do you ever have writer's or creativity block?!

Now that I think about it, we have a good deal of stuff going on these days.

I am finishing holiday shopping this morning. Phew!
I cannot wait to share what I found for the wonderful women in my life after I give them out!

My sister-in-law ties the knot in 2 weeks.
I have designed and completed the wedding programs, I am just awaiting her final review. I also drew up her guestbook (tree for guests to stamp their fingerprints and sign their names). I will share both of those projects after the wedding!

I am trying out a new gym this month beginning Monday.
The classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays - 3 weeks on, 1 week off. I am assuming (and hoping!) lots of HIIT will be involved.

Speaking of HIIT, I am currently obsessed with these YouTube videos.
My husband, my mother-in-law, and hopefully my rowers I am teaching yoga to are all participating in these workouts. We literally pull the YouTube video on the TV and workout for about 10 minutes per video. High-Intensity Interval Training ROCKS!

Neiman Marcus + Target Collab is available today here!!
Loving these high/low collaborations! It definitely makes the fancy stuff with the high price tag more accessible for myself and many others!! You shouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg for high fashion! Click here to check it out! My favorite is this Lela Rose dress! Hello, Gorgeous!!

I will be participating in a Blog Swap with The {Blessed} Life.
While reading my best friend Ashley's post this morning, I learned about this super cool swap. Now that December is officially here, we are reminded the holidays are fast approaching! Why not mix in a little gift swapping with other bloggers? This should be fun, people! Head over here to participate and join in on the Swap!

Happy Weekend!

Design Icon :: Parson's Table

For classic pieces like the iconic Parson's Table, simplicity is truly key. Add other materials or another color to make it your own. Sleek in form, the Parson's Table is a design icon. The legs and the top are the same in width and the forms are square. There seems to be a bit of confusion as to who invented the table... Some sources say the table was created in Jean Michel-Frank's furniture design class at The Parsons School of Art and Design in Paris in 1930. Others argue that Mies Van der Roe was all ready showcasing the design before 1930. Read more about the Table's history here.

Where in your home would you like to see a Parson's Table?

Neon in Ad Campaigns

Neon is really taking control of the visual world in a beautiful way. Taking charge of full ensembles and being played against neutral fabrics, it is truly all the rage. We are seeing it on dresses, signage, home fashion, logos... NEON is surely to catch your attention!

Spirograph Inspiration

Don't you remember that super cool art "toy" from the 80s and 90s that would allow you to draw the coolest shapes perfectly - circles, parabolas, curves, they went on forever!! Oh, the spirograph. I literally had to google "80s toys drawings" to remember the name of the thing!!

Here are new pieces of art - upholsteries, etc. that are a lovely "spin" off the spirograph... Enjoy, and don't get too dizzy :)

Arc|Com's Echo in Flamingo.

A larger scale spirograph, called "Drawing Machine" has been created by artist Eske Rex out of Copenhagen to create larger than life geometric designs utilizing pendulums:

Squares and Ovals

Today was a successful day.. Even though it feels like a lazy Saturday when it is all said and done; I still feel somewhat productive. I needed THIS day to catch up on sleep! The last day I have slept in past 6AM had definitely been forgotten until today. Gotta love Saturdays!!
I pulled together my Halloween costume and ate pho with a friend our favorite pho place... They definitely know us as typical customers these days.. I just seem to crave it every Saturday morning... Thankfully, it is a healthy thing to crave!!

After pho, we went to the Spirit Halloween store to check for costume accessories... I found green and white-striped tights and green hair spray... Later, we headed to Target where I found the perfect green skirt...Well, Catrina found it... (kid's section, but it works and it was cheap!) I also found 15 glow stick bracelets for $1 in the dollar section. Love it!!

I ended up stopping in Hobby Lobby, shocker, I know! I needed 6-square frames for photos I had ordered for our living room. I have a clear obsession with square photos... They are so unique and really capture photos differently from your everyday, typical 5x7 print. Most of the photos I take these days are square .... They are just more fun! Below is some inspiration for the Square... Be sure to check out Ritz Pix - they offer a few size options in square prints... I am so very excited for my 12x12 prints!!
HL was a good stop as I also needed to make a new wreath for our front door to celebrate the fall season - the spring/summer wreath just wasn't doing it anymore. So, I bought a few items to make a quick "Fall" wreath and walala. It is now "Fall" at the May household!!

I am off to continue reading Carlos Ruiz Safon's The Shadow of the Wind...Thus far, this is quite a thrilling book selected for our Book Club this month... Halloween-related of course :)

Tomorrow, we are off to start workout "55"... 1 squat, 54 push-ups. 2 squats 53 pushups. 3 squats 54 pushups........ 54 squats, 1 -push-up. After that, if I am still able to walk, we are completing some running drills... Should be interesting ;)

In the afternoon we are finding the perfect pumpkin at the pumpkin patch and running through corn mazes :)

EnJOY your weekend!
