Inc. Magazine

My most favorite publication these days is Inc. Magazine, a magazine devoted to "Small Business Ideas and Resources." Many articles are as the tag line says, business-related, but I believe the advice and information can also be applied to our everyday lives. It may sound cliche, I know. But to be successful, to be extraordinary, both in life and in work, sometimes the path we take to get there can have a similar terrain. Below are a few links to Ink articles I love! :)

Simply 'Do

Happy Valentine's Day, friends.
Let's talk about date hair.... :) Because isn't getting all spruced
up for a date just the best? I love it every now and then. It just
adds something special, right? I have been playing with simple
hair styles as I stated in this postand I am always on the hunt
for easy things to do with my hair for date night or in the morning
before work. Let's face it, wearing it curly or straightening it...
These options get old fast!! Today, I had to be at work by 7am so I
wore my hair natural (curly) and clipped it all to one side, kind of
like thisBelow are few more inspirations and ideas I may try out ;)

Enjoy!

Before + After. Lighting DIY

I really love Moooi. Especially their Random Light...
kind of sexy advertisement on their site, haha!
Cool, cool light... But at a cost! About $642....
I found this DIY pendant project and knew I had to try it! The photos
really do not do it justice. It really makes an unbelievable
difference in our space! We used to have a gold chain fixture
with a plastic-like lense that would glow very yellow. (We still
have it, it is the apartment complex's...)
We purchased a new stem/wire entirely for this project just
to modernize the dining space just a bit! I will post detail
shots later. Also, I know the art looks really tiny on the
wall, and I will update it eventually! Have a good one!!

Reverse Braid and Fabric.

Two things.
Here is a quick braid I did before going to
teach my yoga class this morning. Ponytail
is slightly crazy due to sleeping on
wet hair last night...
I basically just flipped my head
upside down and braided the bottom
half while the top half was up and away
in a hair tie.
Secondly...
I am loving the custom fabric designs offered by
Spoonflower. Check out the "earth up"
fabric I used above! You can actually
design your own fabrics on this
site. I cannot wait to start. :)

I Heart Radishes.

That's all. :)
Radishes above are from our CSA, Swallowtail Farms.
I chopped these up and put them on my salad tonight.
"CSA" means Community Supported Agriculture.

Follow the Sun

Here is one of the songs in my newest yoga playlist. Lots of great feedback on this playlist so far this week! Below is "Follow the Sun" by Xavier Rudd. Enjoy, friends. Link to listen. Follow, follow the sunand which way the wind blowswhen this day is done.Breath, breath in the air. Set your intentions.Dream with care.Tomorrow is a new day for everyone,Brand new moon, brand new sun.So follow, follow the sun,the direction of the bird, the direction of love.Breath, breath in the air, cherish this moment, cherish this breath. Tomorrow is a new day for everyone, brand new moon, brand new sun. When you feel life coming down on you, like a heavy weight. When you feel this crazy society, adding to the strain.Take a stroll to the nearest watersand remember your place. Many moons have risen and fallen long, long before youve came.So which way is the wind blowin',and what does your heart say?So follow, follow the sun,and which way the wind blowswhen this day is done...

Chaotic.

The above title is a clear description of the week thus far...
I am just surrendering to the chaos; letting it be as it shall be.

February Resolution Review

Each month I would like to revisit my resolutions and goals set in January
only to make sure my actions are aligned with everything I want to achieve.
So, here goes the February review!!

My goals for this year are divided into serious AND fun sections.
Sometimes, resolutions can be sooo serious. I am over that idea.
Quite honestly, I believe my resolutions could be even more
exciting, I have all year to add on as needed, right?!

In regards to my career, I accepted a new full-time job
and I am loving it so far. Before getting the offer, I was
lucky to have time to shadow two different careers of interest.
I have not volunteered, and I am hoping to find some opportunities
as soon as possible! I am now teaching (4) regularly scheduled yoga
classes per week, so that goal is currently being met. I also need to
apply to UF here in the next few weeks! Eeeeeee!

Career-Related Resolutions
1. Job shadow and observe professions I am interested in.
2. Volunteer at Shands Hospital in the Arts and Medicine program.
3. Teach four or more yoga classes per week.
4. Apply to University of Florida (and be accepted!)

On to the fun! Justin and I have been discussing a trip to
Cedar Key on the Gulf Coast, so he is helping me keep
this "dream" alive! I still need to take class at Sanctuary, but
my schedule just hasn't meshed with theirs quite yet. I
have not even begun to think about language. Do YOU
have any thoughts on this one?! ;) Last week, I purchased plane
tickets for my Costa Rica retreat!! I am almost paid in full
for the lodging (about $250 to go). I cannot wait!
Two weeks ago, I took Justin to the Palm Beach Opera
at the Kravis Center down south. La Traviata was
amazing. We both loved it!! Needless to say, I was
definitely surprised that we loved it so much!!
Dinner party- I need to tackle this one in the coming
months.

Fun Resolutions
1. Beach weekend in Cedar Key
2. Family girls weekend in St. Pete/Tampa
3. Take a yoga class at Sanctuary Yoga
4. Learn conversational French or another language
5. Yoga retreat in Costa Rica (Flight tickets purchased!)
6. Attend the opera
7. Have a dinner party

Home?

This is the home that could be ours {to rent} beginning in August.
(Click photo to enlarge.)
We got the call Friday evening stating that we have been chosen,
so we are going to check on it one more time to verify a
couple of things... And then hopefully, the search will be complete.
Have a wonderful week!!

Roof Over My Head

Tonight we went to a showing to view a possible home for rent...
We absolutely adored it!
3 bed 2 bath, new interior finishes throughout including wood floors,
a garage, a fenced yard, pets allowed :) And in a nice neighborhood
to boot.

Fingers are crossed...

We still have about (8) other homes in our spreadsheet to view, so I am
going to schedule some of those just in case...

Tonight I am grateful to even be able to look for a new roof over
my head. Love to all and good night!

Movie Night

Justin has been out of town working and training all week.
I have been busy this week, too, holding down the fort...
So, tonight, thank goodness, is movie night!
We are watching Pitch Perfect.
Happy Friday!

Best line from the movie so far...
"You're really drunk right now, I don't think you
are going to remember any of this..."

Hiatus

Now that I am writing every day (more or less)
on the blog... And now that I am working a full
time job and (3) part time yoga jobs, I have noticed
that I would love some *extra* time on my hands.

Life needs to be lived.
Dreams need to be dreamed...
While sleeping normal hours in the night!

So, I have decided to take a hiatus from
Facebook. I started yesterday. It really gives me more
time to talk on the phone with the people I am
missing rather than just typing them a message.
It even allows me to enjoy the time with
people I am seeing in person!
Simply put...
It puts the heart back into friendship.
We shall see how long this lasts.
I am liking it so far!!
Xx.

Have you ever taken a hiatus from Facebook
or technology in general?
Did it help you create space for something
else in your life?

It's a Date

Yesterday we went to see The Palm Beach Opera
perform "La Traviata" at the Kravis Center. I got tickets for
Justin for Christmas... The main character gets Tuberculosis
(which is what the hubbie works with) so he of course
was interested!

If you haven't gone before, I highly recommend it.
The opera took me back to a simpler time.

A time when orchestras and live singing and
acting were the greatest and most
unbelievable of things.

A time when dressing up for a date was the best thing ever.

Opera equals pure joy in my book.

Happy Friday!

I am typing this on Justin's laptop tonight
and I don't really have any options to
change font or insert images.
Strange.
Anywho...
We are in Orlando tonight staying with Justin's family.
Tomorrow we are headed to the opera in Palm Beach!
Have a fabulous weekend! :)

Yoga Ponderings

I prepared for a good part of the morning
for the yoga class I taught this evening at 9:30pm.
The class is taught so late because it is a slot
at a university rec center.
The goal was to teach the students a class that
was much more challenging and invigorating
than last week's sequencing...

Tonight was definitely a success!

I learned that I needed to revisit a practice that
included a more intermediate flow and asana
sequence. This is the kind of yoga that is
so difficult for the body... that it actually clears
the mind!
You are unable to think about anything else.
I have missed classes like the one I taught,
for months now!!
And I am so excited to keep the momentum
going in my class offerings this semester!

I received wonderful feedback from
students tonight, and I am eager to keep
with the challenge of bringing my students
the yoga that they love each and every class...
A yoga that challenges, invigorates, and surrenders
the mind and the body...
Goodnight!

Mirror, Mirror

I am currently in search of a snazzy full length mirror
for the bedroom and possibly a cute wall mirror for the
living room!! Here are a few inspiration images...
Hoping to thrift a mirror or 2 here soon!

each bathroom trying to see my full outfit!}

Oysters for Dinner!

Wow! This weekend has been pretty awesome to say the least!
I spent it in Tampa/St. Petersburg with my mom and my sisters-
a fun girls' weekend indeed!
I learned I had a love for raw oysters Friday night and while
driving home I called Justin and guess what he wanted to make
for dinner?! You guessed it.. Oysters!

Wedding Details

Last month, my sister-in-law was married, and I found a few silly photos I had taken quickly with my iPhone. These images are pretty fuzzy, which reminds me I am saving for a fabulous camera to hopefully purchase in about a year! I am literally setting aside quarters and dimes for this one, so it should take some time to save!

Happy Friday.

1. What I'm Reading... The Butterfly Forest by Tom Lowe. Still reading this as I was in last week's post!

2. What I'm Eating... Right now I am noshing on pecans from Justin's family's pecan trees. They are so amazingly addicting! Currently dreaming up recipes they could be yummy in!!

3. What I'm listening to... Spotify mixes a friend shared with me! Here is favorite that I used in my power yoga last night at UF.

4. What I'm Excited about... Girl's weekend with my sisters and mother in Tampa and St. Pete this weekend! I am about to pack a quick bag, finish picking up the house, and get on the road!!

5. What I'm Watching... TV-wise, nothing really!
6. Recipe I have Bookmarked..... Black Bean and Avocado Lettuce Wraps!! I cannot wait to try this next week!!

Cheers, it's the weekend!!
